The Nordic spirit of the Jura mountains
A former glacier valley, the Combe of Cives is the ideal area for those looking for relaxation, tranquillity and contact with nature, with a hint of the Far North. The area also brings joy to sport enthusiasts with a huge area for cross country skiing and snowshoeing or walking and mountain biking routes in summer.
Mountain atmosphere guaranteed
Chapelle-des-Bois, at the heart of the Haut Jura Regional Natural Park, is one of the five green resorts of the Doubs. There you can visit the Maison Michaud, roofed with tavaillons (special wooden tiles), this eco-museum of mountain life will leave you without doubt about the conditions of life in the mountains, past and present.
Land of initiation and discovery
Nearby, packs of snow dogs await you for an introduction to dog sleighs, and the ski museum presents its collections at the Pré Poncet. Further in the direction of Chaux-Neuve, you can discover the Polar Park, a fantastic animal park (dogs, reindeer, Tarpan horses, yaks, etc) where the public can meet the animals. Chaux-Neuve also houses the ski jump which each years hosts the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup.
Finally, not far from there, you can discover Mouthe, which owes its fame to the extreme temperatures measured at the spring of the river Doubs: a very healthy dry cold, typical of the Jura Combes.
