A typical plateau in the Jura landscape
The plateau of Maîche, bordered by the rivers Doubs and Dessoubre, is a mountain limestone rock plateau which lends itself perfectly to leisure activities and the discovery of the Jura landscape. Located in the north of the mountains, this plateau peaks at a little more than 1,000 metres altitude. It faces Switzerland and the tumultuous Doubs river marks the border limit.
The country of the Comtois horse and the watchmaking tradition
A true fun area for nature lovers and families in search of leisure and relaxation, the plateau of Maîche is the birthplace of the Comtois shire horse. They are not a rare sight when you are near a field or a typical farm, alongside the Montbéliarde cows, another farming icon of the region. In 1954, the Maîche Plateau has 150watchmakers. The business brought additional income to the farmers of the area.

In summer you can enjoy the many hiking or mountain biking trails, and, for lovers of strong sensations, a breathtaking via ferrata, the famous ladders of death and a ropes course route will delight the daredevils. And the more curious who want to climb up ever higher can enjoy ultra-light flying.
In winter, treat yourself to the cross country ski tracks or slopes, with snowshoe or walking boots hikes, and to the great delight of children and adolescents sledging areas have been especially landscaped.
