For more than a century, Pontarlier was the capital of absinthe, a divine drink for some, an abominable poison for others; the history of absinthe is part of the history of Pontarlier, the global economic capital of the Fée Verte, as told by the engravings, posters, objects, photos and reconstructions.

It was in Val de Travers in Switzerland that the famous recipe for Absinthe was created. After it was banned, Swiss distilleries continued to produce a clandestine form of Absinthe for almost 100 years until the Fée Verte was legalised again in 2005… Discover the history of one such distillery.
