-

This short 3.8 km circuit will allow you to get as close as possible to the peat bog. If you are discreet and attentive, you may observe several species of birds nesting here. You will even discover part of the heritage of the commune of Lac-des-Rouges-Truites, whose inhabitants will be happy to tell you about their past.

Departure from the Domaine du Bugnon.

From the Chalet du Bugnon, which is behind you, follow the white path to the right. It alternates between woods and meadows.
Continue straight ahead until you come to cylindrical metal bars in the ground: this is a Canadian passage (Vehicles can pass, but not cattle. (Vehicles can pass, but not cattle, so the cows are well guarded).
Before crossing it, walk back and forth on the grassy path to the left, to a small shed (Built after the 1999 storm, this small building was used to house a pump to water the woods and prevent them from getting damaged). Take time to admire the peat bog around you before retracing your steps and continuing to the left on the white path.
A little further on, as you leave the forest, you come to a large meadow at the Pont du Rquai.
Be careful when following the barbed wire on the left, you will discover a small discreet opening to enter the meadow, equipped with a Canadian passage for mountain bikes.
Follow the grassy path that is still visible, then walk along the white stones.
You will then arrive at the entrance to a new meadow, which may be fenced off by an electric wire, which you should put back in place if necessary.
Continue in the direction of the small wooden bridge which allows you to cross the river. Continue straight on up the tree-lined cart track.
When you come to another path, at the tramway, turn left and walk along and enjoy the scenery.
You have a bird's eye view of the whole wetland. Continue to follow this landscape path which leads you to the hamlet of Les Thévenins (The old cheese factory on the right was established in 1905. Since 2017, the Lac-des-Rouges-Truites cooperative society has merged with the Saint-Pierre cooperative to create the Pays Grandvallier cooperative. Their combined milk, 97% of which is used to make Comté cheese, is processed in a new cheese-making building in Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux.
When you reach the first houses, take the small road on the left which passes between a few houses.
From La Gare, the old tram station, go down the road that crosses the valley to reach the Domaine du Bugnon.
